    1) One barrel of Crude oil = 42gallons or 159 litres

    2) Our Refineries (i.e 4) Installed (combined) capacity = 445,000 … barrels per day

    3) Actual refineries capacity due to ageing equipment = 30% i.e. 133,500 barrels per day.
    4) . . 133,500 barrels = 21.2 million litres 5) Local required consumption (F.O.S) = 12millions litres6) It means that even our MORIBOND refineries can actually meet our local consumption need of petroleum.

    7) The cost structure of crude oil (i.e. Qua Iboe Crude Oil) production; – Findings / development – $3.5 – Production cost – $1.5 – Refining Cost – $12.6 – Pipeline/transportation – $1.5 – Distr/bridging fund Margin -$15.69 ‎8) True cost of one litre of petroleum anywhere in Nigeria; – Total sum cost = $34.8 – 1ltr cost = $34.8/159 litres = $0.219 – Naira equiv. 0.219xN160= N35.02k – Add Tax N5 + N35.02 = N40.02 9) Let FGN refute the above composition and if not, they should tell us how they came about N65/litre. 10) Locally refined products cannot be sold at International price. 11) We really do not need FGN SUBSIDY as there was NONE in the first place. 12) What is LACKING, is the WILL to enforce LAW ON CORRUPTION. Pls re-post until it gets to the right quarters for their response; We still stand a chance as a COUNTRY. Analysis by Professor Tam David West, former Petroleum Minister.

  • Eddyiyasele

yasele Edwin ‎@chidinma.it is a dan shame that Nigeria is an economic puppet to international bodies. They corrupt our leaders by giving us ODIOUS,DUBIOUS AND UNSUSTAINABLE LOANS that create economic distortion, exacerbate economic problem, one size fit all,the insistence on spending cut, taking away political autonomy and creating moral hazard.Using our economy for their profit.Let her resign it will be better for us.We should use the implementation of sound economic and financial policies, continue structural reforms, including in the areas of Governance(transparency, accountability and efficiency of the use of public resources.)civil service reform and privatization and a stable external environment to better our economy not subsidy. They are thieves. Is there any social mechanism(credit facilities) in place to cushion the effect on the masses?.MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS it is time we collectively put ideas together to raise the standard of living in Naija.RICH COUNTRY WITH POOR PEOPLE.

    • drwiz

I think on a larger scale, removing the subsidy will help Nigerians on a larger scale.
Nigerians keep making stupid decisions and this includes the leaders and the grassroots!!!
First of all we have not been able to manage our refineries and boost/satisfy local consumption. Secondly we export raw crude at a lower price and import back the fractions(petroleum, diesel E.t.c) at a higher price. if you aggregate all the cost  of the several fractions into one you would see that it is costing Nigeria more money. Then thirdly, the FG has to pay an amount(subsidy) to reduce the amount for poor Nigerians.
You see how the stupidity goes in cycles!!!
I think the subsidy has to be removed but not immediately as the poor people of Nigeria are already addicted to this means. So it will make sense for them to wean the populace of it gradually.

  • Mkbell35

so if it works all the curses will return back to those cursing her.

  • St_tony2002

She is wicked, evil and a disgrace to world bank and all professionals. We thought u were coming to this administration to help improve d suffering of d masses of our great country, most of us are still surprised that u can not advice GEJ to provide a constant electricity and make sure all our refinery are work very well n able to supply the amount of our petroleum consumption per day. before looking at taking way the subsidy. we don’t need bastard like u in our Government, Can this happen in the US or in d UK? u are so unpopular with this useless comment. thieves

Madam chubby cheek”s cheeky  attitude shows she thinks she is indispensable. i dont give a hoot if she even renounce her nigerian citizenship peep like her are only fit for the garbage. A seasoned economist should look for alternative on how to augment Nigeria’s revenue not robbing the masses to pay the cabal. Dumb ass.

    • Anonymous

I would expect that 100 Nigerians collecting 1/3 of Nigeria’s budget are the Cabbal we all hate including you?

lets give this government chance, many may try and fail, but who knows what they have in mind. i believe, for Nigerian to implement a good policy the masses will feel it.

  • Austineonoro2005

Nigerian Government has promised to pay civil servants salaries on February 20, 2012 because of oil subsidy removal. What will that mean to them. Government should increase their salaries to match the increase in prices of commodities caused by the removal of oil subsidy. Mrs  Ngozi Okonjo Iweala  the Finance Minister should take this seriously.

  • Kevo2b

Madam resign. na only you dey! Finance Minister OBJ, Same thing GEJ. Please resign cause Nigerian are kicking you our

  • Rusytone

It seems the suffering of the masses is where she derives are joy from, instead of her to advice the federal government to open refineries, constant light, at least, as a “MOTHER” that she was suppose to be, before the removal of the subsidy can be in place. she’s talking about quitting, she can go to hell, there are better Nigerians who will do better work out there.

  • Bogunwole

She shouldn’t wait for 1 additional day, As a matter of fact, We would pledge to raise money for her ticket back to wherever she is coming from. All this textbook approach to things is not going to work here, practically i don’t think she can implement the promises of Oil subsidy removal.

  • Tie

It is a lie. She has not threaten to resign.

  • Righteousbasshir

Okonjo wahala wants to resign if govt reverse its nigeria decision on fuel subsidies,no wander that Baba rubbish her in his time.u were invited by the president to punish our economy. how can the president invites to to nigeria through ngozi wahala.south-south agenda

I will never fail to respect you, a lot of people did not know the real defination of the removal of oil subsidy. Let us enlighten our people, the removal of oil subsidy is a welcome development and must be uphold and implemented. Let us respect our leaders and a constituted authority.

    • john

      hmmn,you will regret this someday

  • Dejiaminu

This woman please resign now because there is no alternative to reversing the oil subsidy  and put the price to =N=65.00/ltr

  • Olembeshakor

there is something i dont understand o! Does The fact that you have an injury on your eye and the FLIES perch on it mean you should remove your eyes??? Why must innocent people get punished for the crimes perpetrated by the same government officials? after all is it the masses that export, refine and import petroleum products? are they the ones in charge of  regulating petroleum products? are they the ones that plan the budget? who are those incharge of the subsidy process management? are they not human beings? cant those perpetrators be brought to justice if they are HUMAN BEINGS or better still be DESTROYED if they are mere stones or wood. if subsidy must be removed, the load it carries in the past where will such load rest? On the masses… THE POOR MASSES??? and so many other questions like that o!

  • Olayinka

see the only prayer, i have for you is that god we punished you.

  • Gorryll2

Let Ngozi resign and go back to where she came from. Or even go to hell. Her interest and her western masters interest con never supersede the interest of more one hundred million people.
Infect let her even proceed to hell.

  • Shanpepe

You can bloody well resign who gives a damn! It shows you cannot solve the equation: putting the cart before the horse! Wrong answer madam, What a laugh!

  • http://www.facebook.com/MICHAELMIMO Odukoya Michael

see what is happening, so resign now

  • Tosin Amakor

You are of no use to anyone.During the time you have been in office this country has not improved from anything you have done. Since you are inept in your job you should vacate your position and allow a younger and more progressive person, who also possesses integrity, to take your place. More young and energetic people in the government, who love and care about Nigeria and its future, would be worth one million of you. So take a back seat, stop being so sad and full of self importance, and let the real people get on with the job of ruling the country.

  • Polycarpanddorcas

Nigerians need to think, there is no different in removing oil subsidy and increase in pump price. offcourse, the former is better. The minister has forseen the future, a step that should have been taken long ago

  • Boniface Ebere Akachukwu

May God forgive and help us to understand that what the government is trying to do is for our own betterment, Insulting, abusing and quarrelling the government or calling them names is not the solution, let us tarry a little please, all shall be well bikonu, abegooo, ijoor,

  • http://www.facebook.com/felix.inije Felix King

No reason is worth it,they come into powers overnight n want to enslave d poor, how do u inflate prices over night with 110 percent increase, u know fully well dis will affect every other sectors of production, n d govt should know d masses are suffering,no good water, electricity, and roads to mention but a few,n corruption is d order of  d day,pls d govt should all resign,if they know they are not capable to do their jobs,go abroad u see all their kids in foreign schools and they inflate prices with differences of 110 percent.pls enough is enough if Jonathan is not capable let us call 4 revolution.since we have animals out there as govt.

  • Anonymous

Good talk I support you 101% lets do away with the subsidy! If after this government talks about subsidy again then lets call for revolution then! For now I will not support the payment of 1/3 of our national Budget to 100 individuals while the rest 150million share only 2/3!

  • Kennugo

They are talking “scarifies” let Jonathan and all the executive and legislative members including the appointees like this Minister, start by sacrificing 50% of their allowances and we will b convinced for sure they are serious….

  • Chidi Joseph Emmanuel.

    It is so painful that
Nigerians lack trust and confident in the Nigerian Government due to
the past experience faced by the Old Government of the ” So Called
GENERALS”… I want to educate us more on the removal of subsidy . There
are more benefit to the removal of subsidy than subsidy to stay . We
have been clamoring on this Deregulation (privatization)long ago but
because of the siphon… and Wickedness from your past Head of States .
We have forgotten that Federal Radio Communication network(FRCN) and
National television authority(NTA) are the only people operating the
Industry but with the deregulation(privatization) there has been so many
private television and Radio stations in the country as same occurs to
the Communication industry . With the likes of “Ni-tel”
“MTN”,”GLO”,ETISALAT and even the so called scamming network from them

    E

CO-NET…ZAIN, AIR-TEL, … Now President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is
trying to make things easier and we are congesting it the more … Ten
power plants will be commissioned next year so the pain can reduce while
we enjoy. We have been deceived and cheated…Please don’t let it fall
back on our Children … The Oil belongs to all Nigerian not the cabals
alone. I support the removal of Subsidy fellow Nigerian.

  • Bukhari Oyewale T

Iya its high time you resign, there is no point telling us, we didn’t know when u are taking up the appointment. the best is u quit if its our suffering u want . What has happened to the previous subsidy removed.
