Early morning fire kills 67-year-old woman in Festac

The Commander, Festac Fire Station, Chinyere Azubuike, who confirmed the incident, said, the remains of the deceased had been handed over to the police.

The Divisional Police Officer in Festac, Muhammed Muazu, who also confirmed the death, said that the dead woman’s husband, who is responding to treatment in a hospital, also sustained injuries in the fire incidence.

Eye witnesses said the cause of the fire remains a mystery as there was no public power supply in the area at the time of the incident, and the kitchen of the house was unaffected.

The entire duplex, with wooden partitioning and flooring, was reduced to ashes,however the second duplex was only slightly affected.
